"The Mimbres prehistoric Indians occupied the southwestern part of New Mexico hundreds of years ago. Their cultural history has survived mostly in their burial plates and other artifacts. The Mimbres art has geometrical mysticism that uses triangles, squares, rectangles and sometimes circles. These lines make a modern abstract connection to cubism and other representations that remind us of Pablo Picasso and M. C. Escher.
I personally love and admire the Mimbres art. The quail represents a guardian and this proud male that is adorned with rectangles, circles and other geometrical forms. He stands on a natural branch, where my signature rests."
