"Brisa de Primavera depicts a young Tewa Indian woman standing in the wind holding on to her shawl to keep from blowing away. Her feet symbolize the roots of tradition, which keep her standing. This sculpture expresses the uncertainty of the future facing the American Indian as he or she deals with the pressures of modern times. The patina transitions from 'Mother Earth' brown to greenery, which finally ends with the turquoise blue of the Southwest sky." |
