"The Chicago Center for Peace Studies commissioned me to design a sculpture as a world peace award. I came up with several ideas, which eventually evolved, into the Paloma de la Paz. The sculpture is of a dove, a universal symbol of peace, which is depicted with the world on its shoulders. The earth has continents with no boundaries, and the dove is carrying an olive branch in his beak as a symbol of the message of peace."
