"Marco pays homage to Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo in the bronze sculpture, "Frida. Marco was raised in the same neighborhood where Frida lived, in Coyoacan, Mexico. His Aunt was friends with Frida and Marco had the privilege of knowing Frida when he was a little boy about five years old. He remembers playing with Frida's dogs when he would visit her house with his Aunt.
The sculpture reflects Frida's character-the true grit of the lady. Her art was her diary, and she was truly Mexican. Her love for life, animals and the Mexican culture plus her character as an artist, is inspiring.
Marco has found that as a sculptor it is especially difficult to recreate an image of someone you know. He depicts Frida in a Tehuana peasant dress, and if you look at each profile you can see a young Frida on one side and an older, pained Frida on the other."
