"My Quijote has been in the making for more than seven years while I have been looking inside my own world to produce a Quijote that is a romantic dreamer with a determined look to the future.
I sculpted my Quijote flying out from the map of Spain, riding a wave that propels all the literature of Cervantes through the skinny figured gentleman. The wings are a metaphor for the propellers made from the windmill that he has fought before (the wings and hat are detachable). The barber shaving pan is his hat; flowing on the wing the element of the armature; knee and elbow pads are his protection and aerodynamic hope. His shield is strapped to his chest protecting his brave heart; his coat of arms has a Crusader cross with a letter 'C' representing the spirit of Cervantes. The seal of the Lion of Bravery on the bottom right of the shield represents the character of Quijote and on the left are the bars of the Spanish flag. The top right shows the coat of arms of Dulcinea del Toboso, his platonic love. To the left of the shield, I took artistic liberty in putting MO (my initials) in the form of a donkey head to honor an animal that I admire greatly. The shoulder pads and the pants are borrowed from a bullfighter with the buttons on the inside. God bless Cervantes for giving us such a romantic hero. He is the great grandfather of the underdog-he is the original."
